Moseley Old Hall by anniesue

Moseley Old Hall

a sixteenth century building in a nineteenth century brick skin. Plays a very important part in British (and, I suppose, world) history.

I used to work here once.
Wonderful building, pic!!

@chrisiow house pretty much the same, but they've extended the surroundings - will have to do a bit of research about how they acquired the land

@beckyk365 if he hadn't escaped, I'm not sure the monarchy would have been reestablished in Britain - and then the whole George III thing wouldn't have happened!

Wow fascinating. What a lovely old building. What what George III thing wouldn't have happened? Seems inconceivable to think of Britain without a monarchy

@seacreature we had a civil war in the 1600s and Charles I had his head chopped off and we were ruled by Parliament/Oliver Cromwell. When Cromwell died, it was perfectly probable that this 'protectorate' would continue. However, Charles II did come to the throne, and ultimately George III came to the throne - and then lost the 'colonies' ie the USA. If Charles II (as Prince Charles) had been captured and executed, his brother (a Catholic) would likely not have been restored to the throne, but probably couldn't have been bypassed for anyone else - so a democratic republic might have ensued.
