my youngest competed today in the okc ironkids triathlon. he did so great--he had his best time ever!! (37.42 minutes)
from bottom right:
*getting body marked (go #397!)
*i got a 'mom-mark' to cheer on my boy!
*with the intermediate (ages 9-11) group ready for the swim
*his wave heads into the water!
*strong swim: 150meter open-water swim in around 4min
*transition
*coming in on the bike: 4miles in around 23min
*pushing hard on the run: 1mile in 10min (another best time!)
*crossing the finish line!
*ironkid bling
*big bro didn't race today (he's training for a 100mile cycling event next weekend) but was there to cheer his bub on!
*dad gives a little love
You did a nice job putting this all together. I think it is so neat that your boys are so active. It gives them a strong sense of accomplishment, especially when they do as well as your boy did in the triathlon. It also helps develop a great sense of team work. Character that will serve them well when they are older. It sounds like you have some wonderful children, and yes they are still boys, but I have a sense they are pretty special.
Wonderful! Congrats to youngest son...and for the entire family because we know that it takes a village to raise a child. The pic in the middle is the best. LOVE his smile and his sense of "I did it!"
laura, ummmm, i didn't. if it were up to me, i'd lay around eating bonbons with a good book. my hubby has exerted his considerable influence over us all. well, me to a far lesser degree than the boys, for sure! i'm the slug of the group. (:
Re: butterfly comment, I readied myself to run, actually. (:
How awesome is this collage? For some reason, I just can't get a collage to look good--all the photos look too small to me. Maybe it's just Picnik-ha. Awesome event! I love that you were cheering him on in this. Was this for school or for fun?
Fantastic. You should be proud of all the men in your life.
Acts 20:24 (NIV) ...I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.
And btw, I have to say that I was totally taken aback when I read your profile and realized that you are a wife and mom...you profile pic looks like you are a teenager! You go girl!
I love how you've set an example for healthy exercise and then you cheer your boys on to their terrific successes! What an impressive day for your youngest! Tell him your friend sent him Congratulations!
And yes, I *completely* get it about the friendship part! Mutual admiration society here, I guess!
What a talented family you have, Brett. No wonder you are so proud of them!! Love the collage becuase it let's you tell us so much more of the story :-)
Brett, RE: Rocco and his perfectly trained behavior, please see my latest photo. As we were humming taps & later singing, "I'll Fly Away" the strangeness & hilarity were just below the surface. If I hadn't felt so badly for the little bird who died under my care, I would have been laughing. Then with Rocco digging him up and stealing a knife, it felt like I was living a scene straight out of a Tennessee Williams, Harper Lee, William Faulkner or Eudora Welty.
Fantastic shots!!
:)
rick--i really appreciate your kind words. thanks so much.
carla--you hit the nail on the head--he felt so proud!!
