There was a pair of these on my dead tree, the female is not as pretty as this male. They are quite tiny, maybe about 2 1/2 inches long. The dead tree which was placed on our back fence by my husband is a favourite spot for all kinds of birds to stop.
Thankful for - the many birds that stop in my garden.
Lovely shot Sheralee. You shamed me into it and i went to the weir this morning (lots of water flowing over) and took 165 shots handheld which have been reduced to 61 and some will be posted shortly.
@peterlgrave Really?!! We went there too and I also had my bazooka (nickname for the 150-600) with me. We were there from about 6.30 to 7.15. We must have just missed you. I will probably post one of mine tomorrow. I do think a monopod might be good with that lens as it can get pretty heavy. I sort of brace my elbow against my stomach to give me extra stability. I look forward to seeing what you got Peter.
@bella_ss I had full intentions of an early visit but went back to bed at 5.30 instead and went about 10am.I sat on a rock and rested my elbows on my knees which worked fairly well. i had forgotten my tripod !!I think a ball head for the tripod would be good..
@peterlgrave if you get there before anyone has disturbed them they are really close to the bank. We caught about 50 there and probably another 50 out further. Not yesterday though, the fishermen had already scattered them.
