Well, tomorrow will mark one week since we unexpectedly had to say goodbye to our dear companion, Moshe... I have thought that, if there is a doggy heaven, for Moshe that would be a room full of green tennis balls. He DID love those balls and, if he had not been in the house for some hours, his ball was the first thing he went for in celebration of his return to home! It's an image I hope never leaves my mind!
@linnypinny Thank you, Lin! I feel so loved by so many! I posted the same notice of our loss on my Facebook page and have been amazed to find over 50 expressions of sympathy and concern! I know there are many fellow dog lovers who participate in 365 and I am so grateful to be getting acquainted with s few of them!
This is such a lovely portrait of him, Barb. He looks the way I'm sure he was, so intelligent and so gentle at the same time. He and you are both in my heart and mind just now.
Barb, my heart aces for you and your husband. I am so sorry that you have lost your precious companion. We are so blessed to have these wonderful creatures in our lives. You've captured so many lovely and fun images if Moshe that will continue to bring you joyous memories of your years wi
* with him. Someone said to me once " the only problem with dogs is that they are not with us long enough" So true. I still miss my black lab companion of thirteen years. You are in my thoughts.
@barbarajdonnellan Thank you, Barbara, for your thoughtful words of sympathy for our loss of Moshe! There was something unique about him that I don't recall in the many other dogs we have had and loved over the years... He had this light in his eyes and this way of gazing intently at you that made you feel he wanted to read your mind or maybe he hoped that we could read his...
I am thankful that I took so many photos of him more recently! It is bit strange that I was able to get them because he normally would leave the room or tun away if he saw me pointing a camera at him. Thanks again for your kind comments!
I am sorry you lost your dog! How long ago was that? Thirteen years is a pretty good age for a larger dog like a lab, I guess, but, as you said, still too brief! Do you have another dog now?
I lost my Lab in July 2011. Similarly to what you said about Moshe, I have loved other dogs, but there was something very special about Skipper and the bond we had. A couple of your pictures of Moshe struck a real chord with me - the eyes are the window to the soul and the one with the tennis ball. Skipper was never without his tennis ball and often had two in his mouth at the same time. I am just now beginning to think of another dog although I am not in the position this time to raise a puppy because of work demands. I have been looking at rescue sites for older dogs in need of a permanent home. I'm thinking of you Barb and looking forward to more of your wonderful photos when you return to your project.
