houses in the desert

This is a view from a trail at South Mountain
Park in Phoenix. It really pisses me off how the houses are inching into the pristine desert.

I googled Phoenix and an other surprise was what a big population it has , so urban sprawl is maybe inevitable ..

What a dramatic landscape, shame that the housing is encroaching on the dessert though.

@jack4john @kali66 @paulaw There is no way that this city can last forever....once it runs out of water, that'll be it. The city survives on the water provided by the Colorado River...but so does just about ever other southwest city including Las Vegas and the biggest water hog...Los Angeles.

I don't like to see that happening either. Sometimes I think there is quite a lot to be said for zero population growth.
