old lime kiln by blueberry1222

old lime kiln

This lime kiln was unbelievably remote and massive. The area was once used for cooking limestone, smelting ore, and chopping down trees to keep the kiln fire burning. It's now abandoned, but there are remnants of tools, metal saws, and other rusted artifacts scattered around. People were made of different material back in the 1800s, as I can't imagine anyone building and working this now.
Shame, when as you say it was clearly put to good use in the past! An interesting relic, fav.
