I seem to be in a real rut lately....sorry for another bird shot! I spotted this Bald Eagle flying towards me as I was driving home from dropping Joey off at school this morning. He flew out of a timber that surrounds a small creek beside the road. I can't even believe the wingspan on these birds....it never ceases to amaze me when I see them in flight but especially impressive as he was flying down the road towards me.
I haven't had a lot of time to take pics lately so I decided this might be my only chance today. I pulled over to the shoulder and watched him as he landed in a tree. These birds have a really bad habit of staying just out of camera reach so I sat there and tried to wait him out but after about 10 minutes I decided to get out and start walking towards the tree which was down a ditch and across a field. I didn't get halfway down the ditch before he flew off...this isn't very clear but it's the best of the bunch so it's going to have to be my pic of the day.
the composition is wonderful here. such a sense of freedom i get from this. i love the way the branches are pointing towards the eagle, and of course i dig that frame and texture!
Oh, Paula, this is gorgeous!!! He's so majestic--I love the angle you caught him at, his spread out wing-tips, and the two-toned color scheme!!! The framing is wonderful, too... An amazing shot!!! This is a fav for me because of the emotion you've captured/instilled here...
Paula, your frames just get better and better. This looks like you added the branches after the fact. I say take an eagle shot any time you can get it. I just keep going back again and again to look at this. I agree with Heather about the branches - they just carry your eye right to the eagle.
That's a sight I never get tired of seeing. What a majestic bird and what an incredible shot with the full wing span. Love the editing and framing. It all makes this such a stunning presentation.
I know you are frustrated with the distance but sometimes that isn't the most important aspect. In this photo everyone love the majestic look and angle of the bird in flight. Take that on as you did a great job of shooting that. Also, those muted tones really help the eagle stand out.
Fabulous shot; don't apologise for your bird shots. They are all spectacular. I get to feel the same way when I put up endless flower shots, but everyone else seems to like it.
Wow.....! Just wow...and you really do NOT need to apologize for photographing these majestic birds. This is probably the only way I will ever see one up close. Also, I apologize in advance if you have already answered this......what program to you use for your photo framing. You are so artistic and creative with that as well.!
I have been browsing through your album after finding a recent photo on the popular page. You have some seriously awesome photos...I admit to being completely blown away after seeing you describe yourself as an amateur! I love the landscapes, barns, fields, etc. They all remind me of my home (some small dot maybe on a map in southern MN).
