Lest we Forget. by brennieb

Lest we Forget.

Long day. Flanders fields..Yorkshire trenches. Hill 60. Caterpillar crater, entry point south. this Hooge cemetry 6,000 buried here. I have to say it made me cry. Very emotional.
So sad !

These cemeteries have that affect on all of us. Hubby was a soldier, son is an RAF cadet and it broke his heart the first time he read the ages on the stones and realised many of them were his age or younger. Very emotional places and a sobering sight. Love to you xx

As far as the eye can see too Brenda! The cemetery looks beautifully cared for, those simple white headstones, so moving to see even in this photo. To be actually there like you do every year & it obviously gets no easier to see them....I’m thinking the old soldiers you take must be even more upset than us just looking at this photo.

Oh how sad. I think my grandad is in there somewhere. Of course, I never knew him, he died when my Dad was only two years old.
