Chateau de Joux by busylady

Chateau de Joux

The original wooden castle was built in the 11th century. It changed significantly over the years until it was fortified by the French architect Vaubann in the 1600's. It has been in continuous use since it was built and was used as a prison in the 19th century. A most impressive building, although difficult to give an idea of the size and majesty of the building with just one shot.
Looks a lovely place to visit. Great capture.

Interesting commentary, nice composition, like the way the building seems to be sliding down the slope.

Looks like pretty amazing real estate to have been a prison! White collar crimes? What a stunning setting.
