Olmstead Maple by byrdlip

Olmstead Maple

Spring is arriving.

Acer platanoides
( Olmsted Norway Maple )

'Olmstead' is a hardy, deciduous, upright tree reaching a height of 30 feet in height by 15 feet in width. Dense green turns yellow in fall. Greenish-yellow flowers appear in early spring. Tolerant of poor soils and harsh environmental conditions, but should be grown where vigorous surface roots will not be a problem.
Important Info : Difficult to grow shrubs or lawn beneath, but ground covers such as Bigleaf Periwinkle, Liriope, Mondo Grass or Carpet Bugleweed will work.
