A weed: any plant that can be reached by a lawn mower.
This poor forsythia lives amongst the some of the rhododendrons near our drain field. In an attempt to keep the weeds down so that we could see the rhodies, I took the lawn mower between the rhodies. There is a cage around the plant, so when I get ambitious with the weed eater, I know which plant to leave alone.
