""More than 60 people — a whole lot of them decked out in purple — participated in the Walla Walla YWCA’s annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes stroll on Wednesday.
The walk from Heritage Park down Main Street to the Walla Walla County Courthouse was part of a nationwide event started in 2001 to bring awareness of the effect of sexual violence, said Anne-Marie Zell Schwerin, executive director of the YWCA.
Along the route were story sites, marked with purple shoes, of victims who lost their lives to domestic violence in the past year, including one Walla Walla resident. Walkers placed flowers at every site, Zell Schwerin said.""
