flower fill-in

When all else fails, I take a flower photo.
This was a zinnia from our garden, on our table.

Taken after a late night at work, when I didn't get a break. No energy to be creative.

What am I going to do in the winter?!?
:)
I agree, although I'm running out of flowers.

Me too.

Guess I should start thinking of some ideas!

Lots of people use flowers as a backstop, including me. The photo a day thing can be tough, especially when working. There are various tops I've seen from others in the same predicament. In no particular order: 1. Use the monthly word list, 2. Be aware of the various challenges running at any one time, 3. Work through the instruction manual for your camera, mastering all the different functions, 4. Follow one or more of the many online photography tutorials available. There are probably loads of other good ideas, a brief meander around the discussion threads may help. Best of luck! And, as we both work in hospitals, a follow!

I am not a photo of a day person. I just take a bunch when I am out and post for a few days or even a week. Thank goodness there are no photo police on 365. It everyone doing their thing.

@moonmtn @peadar @joansmor

I used to be a photo a day person, but not any more. (after nearly 6 years of 365). If I'm really stuck I have a look around the house as you did, especially the kitchen and try to keep it simple: a bowl of tomatoes, my son's veg chopped ready for a stir fry, evening dinner, glass of wine.... This is a lovely zinnia, beautiful colour!

I too use flowers and things around the house - as well as our dogs. I do think that looking at other photos from 365 give us lots of thoughts from the simple to a bit more challenging. I am so glad I found it. @peadar @joansmor @quietpurplehaze Some great thoughts here - thank you it's great to be able to pick up ideas at the same time as viewing someone else's photo. A double bonus.

A lovely Zinnia capture and colour. I am finding it more difficult to find subjects to photograph as being more or less stuck at home caring for hubby except for the odd escape day .Sometimes treat myself to a new houseplant or bunch of flowers to cheer myself up and to photograph I get bored searching in the garden everyday.

Awesome picture.

@peadar thanks Peter, those are all great ideas. I find it's getting harder as time goes on ( I'm about 8 months into my first year of 365). but I still enjoy it, and it makes me appreciate the beauty of every day life more.

Thanks for the follow, following back

I am trying to stick to the photo a day for the first year, just to challenge myself. I do have to say I have learned a lot so far.

I think for the 2nd year I will be more lenient with myself.

I love taking images of flowers, they are so attractive with their various colours and shape. The centre of the photo is beautiful with all the small yellow flowers.
In all our busy lives it's not always possible to a take a photo day. What's important is to enjoy yourself and do it when you can.

@claudiet Thanks Claude. My oldest daughter jokes that I only take photos of flowers, bugs, or sunsets. But this HAS helped me expand my subjects

Always nice to have a fallback. I find this wonderful community of photographers so very supportive and helpful. I like that it is my project and that I can, and do, make my rules to follow. I make lists of ideas and techniques to try. Sometimes the challenges give me a boost too. For me, it matters not that I don't post each and every day but that I post and learn.

Winter in Minnesota provides plenty of opportunities, don't worry.
