While I was in the kitchen this morning, my little house dogs began barking excitedly and I looked out my window and saw one of my neighbor's sheep running across my driveway with another neighbor's young border collie in hot pursuit. I dashed out the door and called the dog's name with a stern "NO" and the dog stopped in her tracks and turned and headed back home. I went looking for the sheep that had disappeared behind my house, worried it might get lost and not find its way back home. I found her (the ewe on the right) and she came right to me. I petted her and talked to her, giving her a minute to catch her breath. I walked her back home to see if we could find her friends. Found her four buddies huddled together near the barn... thankfully they hadn't scattered all over the neighborhood. (Our neighbors leave their sheep out to graze in the yard and they rarely wander off.) Seeing they had been successfully reunited, I headed home. Then I discovered I had 5 sheep following me home. I could just imagine all of them standing on my front porch! My dogs would really have been excited about that! I was glad to find the gate open to a fenced in area and herded them in there. Went back to check on them later in the day with my camera. They were staying close to the shed. This isn't a stellar photo, but it is a reminder of my day. Thankful today for little adventures that turn out well and brighten my day!
@kathyladley They are... I thought they weren't supposed to be too smart, but every time they see me outside now they come over. All five of them were standing on my driveway behind my car yesterday morning.
