The beginning of our trip. Capo Colonna is a cape in Calabria The modern name derives from the remaining column of the Temple of Juno Lacinia.
The ruins of an Ancient Greek temple dedicated to Hera (Juno) are visible on the cape. The temple was said to have still been fairly complete in the 16th century, but was destroyed to build the episcopal palace at Crotone. The remaining feature is a Doric column with capital, about 27 feet (8.2 m) in height.( thank you Wikipedia!)
What wonderful perspective - the huge column and the tiny sailing boat. You have really given us such a good impression of the size of this ancient column.
@domenicododaro I'm sure you've been there. It was incredibly empty, which is good for us, but not that much for the locals, I'm afraid. It reminds me of Selinunte and Sagest before they were discovered by mass tourism
