This is a different area of the cemetery. Again many stones forgotten, some covered with ivy, some fallen. The reason for this is that the cemetery was started in 1646, many graves are so old that there isn't anybody left to take care. In addition after the fascist laws promulgated in 1938 "for the defence of the race" many jewish families left and those who remained were almost completely exterminated by the Nazis, in the infamous lagers. I agree with M.Brutus on the role of colour in this image. The place is not at all "gothic", it's a peaceful, very big silent garden, where the vegetation has almost a jungle-like appearance
Interesting place and very pleasant colours. I found a similar place last year in Germany and I took some good night photos. Probably it could be the same here. Do you know how is the light here in the night?
I like this photo very much, too. Particularly that from this angle one can see the Hebrew writing on some headstones, which tells a more particular story. I also like the fact that discoloration on the headstones is green in a way that mirrors the live vegetation. This serves to blur the line between what alive and what's inanimate. As if there is a harmony between the two. And almost as if the headstones are coming alive. Another fav.
