This is a sunset on the Tyrrhenian sea made special by the presence on the horizon of Stromboli, one of the Aeolian islands, with its active volcano. The volcano which is 934 meters high has been in almost continuous eruption for the past 2,000 years. Over the crater there is always a cloud, smaller or bigger depending on the intensity of the eruption. The lava flows directly into the sea from the Streak of Fire (Sciara di Fuoco). A magic view. We have climbed it twice during the night and the noise of the explosions and the halo of the incandescent lava falling in the sea from the opposite site of the mountain imposed a sense of awe and respect. The islanders all it IDDU, the dialect word for HE. As if the Stromboli were a person
