Trinkets, Treasures, and Trash- Day 14

I am participating in the "Flash of Red" challenge- Black and white photography for the month of February with a flash of red on February 14. The theme for the week is "Trinkets, Treasures, and Trash." Inspiration can come from anywhere. I got creative with my "splash of red" photo this year. Last night I watched my friend's daughter while my friend and her husband went out for an anniversary/Valentine's Day dinner. We made and decorated Valentine's Day cookies together. Looking at my red cookie cutters, I thought they might make a good subject for my Splash of Red photo. I set the cookie cooling rack on top of a piece of white foam board, laid these four cookie cutters on top, and took a flat lay shot. The nice part- since I photographed red on top of a black-and-white background, I didn't have to convert to black-and-white or do any selective coloring.
Nice red flash. Happy Valentine!

Hi! We are partners for the get-pushed challenge this week. Your challenge is to do a triptych or diptych in the style of David Hilliard. His work can be seen here: http://www.davidhilliard.com/2017_2018.html
Hopefully this will fit in well with the Flash of Red week of Portraits for this week.
If you'd prefer a different challenge, just let me know and I'll set another.

@aecasey Hi, April. Well, that looks like a very interesting challenge that you have given me. I'll give it a go. Looking over your albums, it was hard for me to think of something different at first because you have so many nice photos in different styles. However, I did notice that they are mostly realistic nature or people shots. How about trying a composite this week based on fantasy? Here's a website that even has a short video at the end: https://www.wix.com/blog/photography/2017/03/06/what-is-a-composite-photo-and-how-to-create-one/
Will that work for you?

@chejja thank you for the challenge. I tried and tried, spending quite a bit of time trying to learn compositing but I have nothing to show for it. I don't have Photoshop, so I was using Affinity, but trying to use Photoshop video tutorials. Between the small differences and the tiny icons and print, I wasn't at all successful. It took me two days just to get the images into the program! I'm hopeless. Obviously something I should spend some time with. I may continue to try. Don't want to lose the one skill I mastered!

@aecasey Oh, April, I am sorry. I wish you had told me sooner. I could have changed the challenge to something that would have been more manageable for you. I have an idea for the challenge you gave me. I'm going to see if I can accomplish it today. Wish me luck.
