I worked a night shift last night and this is what the car park looked like this morning, after more rain and wind.
As I was photographing, one of the groundsmen came past and told me I was welcome to take as many leaves as I wanted! He wasn't impressed with the mess, the distance it had spread, and probably the fact there were still quite a few leaves on the tree. He said their usual practice is to use a blower to clear the pavement, blowing all the leaves into a small garden area directly under the tree, then picking them up sometime later. I thought this was a waste of time and energy, but didn't say so - why not just suck them up with a big vacuum cleaner and get rid of them straight away, instead of double-handling?
I wondered if this trees' days were numbered. I hope not.
