Patriotic

In the late 80's I lived in the UK for a couple of years. I still remember well the emotion I felt on returning to my home country, New Zealand.
It's not very common here to fly the NZ flag other than on government buildings, unlike some countries that appear very patriotic and fly their national flag everywhere, including on private houses.
However I have always been proud to call myself a New Zealander, appreciate the beauty of this country and love to see the flag.
There was one flying from a building near our current parking spot, and today I decided to photograph it, as we heard the news that our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has resigned from her position as leader of the country.
There have been a wide range of opinions expressed on her leadership over the last five or so years and on today's decision, both in mainstream and social media, internationally and at home. Many have not been happy with the direction New Zealand has been heading over the last few years. From what I have heard, there are unwelcome changes happening in other parts of the world too.

As I write this the following day, a new leader has been chosen, but there is also an election coming up later in the year. Watch this space...

Yes some interesting times ahead
