Incoming Cyclone by chikadnz

Incoming Cyclone

It was wet and windy today as Cyclone Gabrielle approached us.

I got out of the car briefly to photograph this view of Tauranga's inner harbour from Memorial Park, noting the whitecaps on the water.

The cyclone is expected to be worst for us in the Bay of Plenty from tomorrow afternoon onwards. We had been considering where we should park our motorhome, and settled on a place close to the middle of town that we thought would provide good shelter, and where we might be able to stay for a few days. It's also close to my workplace and Mums's home, so we can support her through the bad weather.

We arrived late morning after emptying and refilling tanks. We found about six other motorhomes and caravans already there, but were able to park up facing into the wind. After a bit of fiddling, we also managed to level up the motorhome in such a way that water wouldn't leak in under the slideout. We are stocked up with groceries and prepared to hunker down for a few days.

Great composition and moody tones.
