This was what greeted us at the South Gare near Redcar this afternoon. The wires were jam packed with Starlings, the noise was quite something then suddenly without warning they went silent all together in a fraction of a second, it was quite eerie like something out of Hitchcocks film 'The Birds'.
This is just a fraction of how many there was, in the distance is the power station and in the foreground what remains of the pilots pier.
To keep us company as well as the starlings were loads of filming crew setting up to add more to the crisis of the steel works closure. The road is where the steelworks are and we have never seen so many vans and crew here and on the carpark at Redcar. I suppose it is big news at the moment.......

Thank you for all your comments and favs all are much appreciated.
Sometimes I wonder if birds get a little buzz on the wires. They do seem to like them a lot. I also think it's fascinating to see a flock land on the wires then suddenly fly off in a cloud.
Great shot. So many birds. Once while visiting my son in Oxford I looked out into the garden and all the green was covered with birds; I looked outside and the streets and rooftops were also covered with birds. Then in a jiffy they were suddenly all gone.
