Why? by craftymeg

Why?

Over the moors we found this huge piece of sandstone elaborately carved and stood by a narrow track over the moor. As you can see there is a small notice at the other side of the path which is more than enough for folk to notice, it just seems overkill and so out of place!
Nice on black

Thank you for all your wonderful comments, all are much appreciated and have kept my lone tree photo on the popular page for 2 days! Heather season is nearly over in just a week or two it will be brown and finished for another year.
I agree - it's a pretty ghastly waste of a nice piece of sandstone. Totally inappropriate. What beautiful coloured heather.

For some even twice is not enough. Great shot of the stone and beautiful moor.

Such a waste of a beautiful piece of sand stone ! Why you ask !! perhaps to point-out the wealth and importance of the landowner !!! for those in need to go to speck savers , !! the rock was too big for his rockery so found another use for it !! ( you caught me in my "silly " time !!
