Beacon by craftymeg

Beacon

A couple of cyclists taking a breather on top of Danby moor. This beacon was erected and lit for the Millenium when it was in a long chain of beacons across the country side in line of sight. I wasn't there but folk did say it was pretty spectacular to let the millenium in this way. It now stands overlooking the beautiful views or Danby moor. Today is beautiful with an unswerving temp of 20.5c even across the top of the moor where it usually is much cooler, tomorrow promises to be warmer, maybe summer has decided to stay!!
Nice on black

I like this a lot Margaret. I'll bet it was awesome (in the true sense of the word) to see them all lit up. I take it that doesn't happen now?

@randystreat
I don't think so, it is left as a monument to the millennium. I wished I had seen it when all the others had been lit. It must have been a sight, it was originally a basket but it's been changed to this more modern sculpted basket.
