Danby Dale by craftymeg

Danby Dale

Taken on Sunday here is a spectacular view of Danby Dale and what is left of Danby castle which is stood to the left of the picture on the far slopes of Danby Rigg. It was built in the 14th century for Lord Latimer to show his great wealth and was both pioneering in its architectural design combining defence and comfortable living. Catherine Parr once lived in the castle before she married Henry VIII. It is now used as a wedding venue set in the castle ruins.

Such a beautiful scene and the heather on the moor really sets it off. What a lovely wedding venue too.
