look who was in the tree outside my door today. He moved from his first branch on the right of the collage down to a more shady spot and just watched me while I stuck my head into the branches to get a better shot. Its going to be very hot over the weekend (41c) so we have left water out for him just in case he gets thirsty. They dont normally drink much as they get their liquid from the gum leaves
I have been dying to see a koala since I started this project but haven't seen many at all, so figured they were mostly in zoos. I love them and how neat to have one right in your garden! Fav on this triptych of images. I only have a couple stuffed ones here at home :-)
thankyou Carole. They are beautiful creatures and we have quite a few living around us but they are usually high up in the trees. they sometimes walk around during the breeding season looking for a mate and sometimes we even see the mothers carrying a baby on their back. In extreme hot weather once I even held a bowl of water for a very thirsty koala while he had a drink.
Oh my stars! He's so darling! He almost looks as if he's melting around the branch in the larger photo. Poor baby, being so hot. It's sweet of you to put water out for him. Heaven bless you for your thoughtfulness.
