"a tribute to the young women and children who have made epic journeys to return to home and country"
This is a sculpture outside the Abbotsford Convent in inner city Melbourne. For a century from the 1860's the convent provided accommodation, schooling and work for female orphans. It was largely self sufficient and could house up to 1000 residents. The buildings are now used as an arts, educational and cultural hub. It also has a wellbeing centre where our daughter has her Chinese Medical Practice.

Beautiful sculpture and a touching story. Whatever people say about the clergy of whatever religion. They have been a point of reference to many people, young and old, who have found themselves in difficulty.
It sounds like the woman who created this was an amazing individual. The world needs those kind of people to live forever. Touching story told in this sculpture.
