budding quinces by cruiser

budding quinces

some of the old fruit trees have been left along the creek until the new native trees get to a good size. Hopefully we will get one more batch of jam from them this year
Quinces must be very English, I have never tried to cook it myself. I have no idea how to do it. Nice textures are captured, it looks rather hairy.

@yaorenliu these are growing here in Adelaide. They will grow quite large. When they are ripe they have a sooth skin. They are a bit like apples or pears but very hard and the fruit is usually made into a beautiful pink jam. There is a Chinese Quince but not of the same family

@veengupta the flesh is quite hard and not very juicy and they only turn pink when you cook them

I'm trying to remember if I've tried one or a jam but I think I'm confusing it with something else- oh, it was a persimmon. Different fruit altogether! These look really good- great shot!

so that is what quince looks like. I have a tree in my garden and the only thing it has produced in 5 years is leaves and growth. Waiting patiently for the first fruit to blossom and hopefully harvest
