hope you have all had a happy Easter. Last week I had a wonderful 4 day cruise filled with friendship, food, fun and lots of scrapbooking. There's nothing like sharing creative time with friends. The ship travelled very slowly as we didn't go very far however there were still some people who suffered from seasickness which must be just horrible.
I will be posting some photos of the trip over the next few days.
I have just had a quick look through 15 pages of your photos! Great to catch up and I will look at them more closely over the next week.
Wonderful to read all this! I saw the photo of the pantry first and suspected you were out on a cruise! Is that not *The Best* to be with scrapping friends, doing projects and cruising?! I did those same short cruises 3x in years past...called "Arts de Mer"...loved being out on the water and sharing with everyone!
A question... Do you all arrive with "swaps" for everyone? I'm meeting a 365 group in Chicago in a month...4 from England, the rest from the states. I suggested swaps, and all were unfamiliar with the concept. They say "they are not creative", and I've tried to make some little suggestions...postcards, a regional candy, make a card with a photo of theirs/write a little something to each person... I've met up with people and at the end of the holiday, they've made a little purchase and presentation for each person...nothing expensive, but "clever"... Not sure how to impart that! Any further ideas? (I figure you and I are creative thinkers, so it's difficult to know how to explain it to someone who thinks she's *not*!)
@Weezilou I love the name "Arts de Mer" cant wait till I get another opportunity to partake. No, we dont do the swaps but some people make artists trading cards to swap and I have even seen stitched ones when I used to attend an annual quilting and fibe school. I think your idea for a little gift swap sounds great and I agree people often feel they are not creative enough to participate. Perhaps as they are photographers it could be a photo of their part of the world or of something unique to where they live with a little story on the reverse. would love to get together for some crafting fun.
@cruiser Thanks , Chris! I had several photo ideas to suggest, plus many other things! Funny, but the groups I've attended are all *very into swaps* as it's both fun to come up with something to share as well as the delight in going home with a box full of variety! I agree that ATCs are very popular these days, and I'm sorry I never amassed very many of those! While "artist's swaps" were about making things, this group is nervous about that concept. Without spending much money, I thought a walk through a grocery store or "Five and Dime" would yield many ideas relating to things that are "local". (I would have dropped the subject when I noticed they were all stymied, but it came up again, so I'm back to the suggestion-making!) Thanks for the input!
