Wonderful capture of this gigantic flower! I was curious about this plant since I had never seen one so I looked them up...according to the info online the flowers have a strong, offensive odor similar to rotting meat to attract flies that pollinate the flowers. Did you notice the offensive odor?
@gaylewood I think this particular type of Voodoo Lily doesnt have the dreadful smell of the gigantic ones. There has been great excitement in Adelaide recently as we have had two enormous ones in our botanical gardens that have flowered. Unfortunately I didnt get the see them. Hopefully next time
@365projectorgjenfurj I didnt smell anything from this one but the giant ones evidently emit a dreadful odour. we have had two recent flowerings in the botanic gardens here in Adelaide and hundreds flocked to see them as they only last a couple of days.. Unfortunately I didnt get to see them. Hopefully next time
