this lovely boy is a Maremma. He belongs to my nephew. He is very big but gentle and loving. The Maremma is known as a livestock guard dog particularly of sheep and there are records of this breed dating back to Roman times.
lovely shot, he looks young, maybe around 2? I bred maremmas for many years while I had a dairy goat farm and could never have kept goats without their amazing protection. I see he likes to dig a gunnery range ;) fav
Oh this has bought a tear to my eye.. we had one of these lovely boys .. Westie he had such a beautiful nature .. miss him .. he use to sit in the paddock with the cows.. looking out for trouble..
