as well as renovating and decluttering we are trying to get our large garden back into shape. As I am the only gardener out of the two of us and not as fit as I was when we moved here 40 years ago, its taking quite a bit of time, hence my spasmodic posting and commenting at the moment.
You have quite a garden. I know the joy. I have a small garden just for few years now, and I am very happy when I spend some time in it. No matter how much time, it is never enough so for the sake of garden and ourselves keep it at small hours every day, and everything will be good, as long as you plant low maintenance plants (that helps)!
Have fun, and post some photos... It's cool to combine gardening and photographing!
It looks like you have some four legged help. ☺ I know the time commitment of caring for a large property. I'm the primary gardener in my family, so it's been nice to scale back to a much more manageable townhouse garden. Like Martina, I'm looking forward to photos as you progress with your garden makeover.
That's a large garden! Lots of work! I always find the time I spend working in the yard and garden to be quite therapeutic and good for my soul. I love it! Looking forward to photos of your garden work in progress. :-)
I have always hoped to have more of a garden here- but the deer eat everything! So I've abandoned the idea of a pretty one and am now in search of indigenous plants they won't eat to pieces that also require very low upkeep! Your garden is beautiful and all the labor will be worth it in the long run. Nice shot.
To cold for that here. The good thing of the cold: it`s growing very slow to nothing.
Great shot of you garden. Looks like you found you job in spare time a while.
What a lovely yard you have to work with! Looks like you've got some good help there in the four-legged assistant. Is that an asparagus fern in the corner of the picture? It's huge (and obviously very happy).
thankyou all for your lovely responses. Wish you could all come over and help. It is about a quarter of an acre. There are quite a few large blocks in our street. We had the garden professionally landcaped about 20 years ago with native plants. They told us it would not take much to keep it tidy but work and family committments got in the way and it became overgrown and wild. We have such dry summers we have to choose plants that will withstand the dry heat. Autumn is a good time to work in it with the weather calm and mild. I'll keep you posted.
