near death experience

we went to donate our guinea pig cage to a local native fauna rescue service. The owner asked if we would like to see her latest patients. Someone had brought in a Bluetongue Lizard very seriously injured by their pet dog. They found her bleeding with a large hole in her side and 5 little baby lizards that had come out nearby and brought them all into the rescue centre. The premature babies were quickly put in a heated tank and although they had grave fears for the mother they pushed her insides back in and stuck her skin together with medical glue! On pain killers and antibiotics she was then reunited with her babies whilst we were there and looked almost good as new. What an amazing rescue story.
Poor mama - hopefully she'll be okay.

I read it wrong at first & missed the cage word out, thoughtbyou had donated your guinea pig for food for a meal.probaly because I was watching someone cook whole guinea pig on to last night. In the Equador I might add!

We have a wall lizard who we call Stumpy. My husband caught his tail by accident but he still loves us.

Somehow i missed this heartwarming story of your's.. we are fortunate to have folk who are able to give the care and attention to sick and injured animals - they are so often unsung heroes, going quietly about their business..
well done Chris for giving up your cage to help others.. you are so kind.. thanks for posting this too.. the world hears too much about atrocities but very little about the good things.. a little balance always helps..

@jorlam thankyou for your kind comments. The lady who runs this rescue centre does a truly amazing job and has gathered together a band of volunteers who help prepare the food and clean out the enclosures. The animals and birds such as koalas, wallabies, possums and eagles are released back into the wild if possible.
