This is a Japanese Beetle on a zinnia blossom. This beetle is labeled as being a destructive insect. It has moved into my area of the state this year. It has definitely moved into my city during the last few weeks. This beetle eats something like 440 different plants. I am trying to figure out a nontoxic way of containing these beetles in my yard.
@thewatersphotos I am having some success in containing the beetles, but they are very difficult to get rid of. My most successful attempt is picking the beetles up and drowning them in a bucket half full of soapy water. The sparrows have found these beetles. Perhaps the birds will eat them.
