Running

This is just a quick snapshot I took of two young men running. This was taken at the zoom limit of my camera lens. At first glance, I thought these two were trick or treaters. With all of the Halloween events going on in my city, people have been dressed up in costumes for days. I then realized that these two young men were members of the J-ROTC. They were returning back to school from an early evening jog with their unit. P.S. The J-ROTC is really a big deal in my city. They win awards during the competitions with other units. Although the J-ROTC is run by military men, the emphasis for our unit is on leadership and teamwork and striving for their best. The members must maintain good grades in school to stay in the J-ROTC. Some members join the military after high school graduation, but some do not. I have been impressed by the J-ROTC here. I have seen the changes and the personal growth by the members.
My husband went to a military high school and ended up in the Navy :) Its amazing how such discipline can shape a person

Sounds like one of the best incentives for young guys to be acknowledged and tested ! I'll have to see what J-ROTC means now!

@maggiemae J-ROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps. Ours has two Army leaders and therefore is an army ROTC.

Good for them- it looks like they are training just like the military does- running with their boots on and packs on their backs. I'm glad to hear that it is a big deal in your area. The country is certainly in need of strong leaders!
