I am really sad that we are getting rid of our old upright piano. This was my grandmother's piano and was most likely purchased in the late 1880s. We are in the process of doing some work done on our house. The piano needs to be moved. It takes four to six strong people to move the piano. We had already decided that we would not more the piano again. Therefore, it is time for the piano to go. I know I will shed some tears more than once about getting rid of my grandmother's piano. I will still have the memories of my son learning to play this piano. I will also still remember the times my family stood singing around the piano, as my aunt played "all the old songs".
