Tonight I was photographing at church. The theme was "hero worship". It was a very fun time to take photos! I hope you like this photo. Comments welcome. SOOC except for a little crop.
@clmiller Okay, I have to ask...our pastor went to Baylor and we bring in at least 3 different pastors from TX to speak occasionally (last week!). Ours is very contemporary.
I go to Second Baptist here in Baytown. It's very contemporary, too. I love it. Baylor and Southwestern Baptist in Ft Worth are the two big Baptist seminaries in Texas. My brother is a Baptist preacher in Ft. Worth. He got his masters degree at Southwestern.
@clmiller That's great! My son's girlfriend went to a Baptist church in Ft. Worth, but it was very traditional and this is quite the adjustment for her. Sermons are always on target but we do get attention! This weekend, people are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite super hero. So much fun and the lesson stays with you.
@anazad511 Ana, yes our church is very contemporary. Even one of the songs we sing says "get up and dance". People don't actually dance, but it is quite different from church years ago.
@lynnb Maybe you mean lacking in substance? Some people refer to it as "Christian lite". But I don't think we are like that. I come away every week having learned something. The basic premise of the church is "Jesus and His Word". Everything else is supplementary. I never would have thought I would attend a contemporary church. Our transformation was gradual (as we have been there over 15 years). Some days I wonder what they will think of next, since they are highly creative, but I have to admit that it is fun and it makes the sermon stick.
