Words from the heart

I received this handwritten letter yesterday about my dad. It was written by an elder from the church I used to attend. My dad and this particular elder had a close bond. He was a young man when they first met some 22 years ago. They would have long conversations over the years. I had called him about my dad's death, but only received his voice mail. I am touched that he would take the time to hand write a 2 page letter about their relationship. You could tell it was a bit difficult to write. I am thankful for people who take the time to honor a person to his family. I know that death is easier to ignore.
What a beautiful letter and representation in photographic form. I love the depth of field and progression to the lovely greeting and then the flowers make a wonderful addition. From my own experience, death is such a hard thing for so many and they express their remorse in a myriad of ways. I can't imagine it being easy for anyone to ignore, even if it may seem like it. I am a very quiet person with death, unfortunately--I prefer the letters usually, something I can sit and write, and I have such hard times at funerals, although I do attend when I can. This is a precious gift, a remembrance of a lifetime friendship. Hugs.

@darylo I was trying to give honor to the letter. It is such a lost art and so much appreciated. I'll bet your letters are wonderful and a beautiful memory. I know I will keep this one, along with some others I received. Not everyone who wants to attend a service is able to. Short notice, wrong time, conflicts in schedules. I just think that sometimes people don't really know what to do, so nothing becomes the option. Yet, a family member has passed on and there are souls that are hurting, even if the person is 78. We all miss our loved ones. I think kind words are very much appreciated, whether written, spoken or in person. The smallest expression can be huge.

This is beautifully composed, but the story behind it really gives it meaning. A lovely tribute....

This will always be a treasure for you. You are correct, it would have been easier to sign a name to a card - I will remember this when I need to in years to come. Bless you.
