Here is a small portion of the interior of the Coral Castle located in Homestead, FL. This man carved all of these items we see from coral rock that he mined from this location. The tall piece is part of a "telescope". Most of these stones weighed several tons and we will never know how he did it alone!
How incredible! I've never heard of this place! How long ago do you think these pieces were carved? A couple of cushions and a throw-pillow, and it night make for a nice rest in the sun!
@Weezilou The man came from Latvia, after being spurned by his fiancé. He was 5' tall and weighed 100 pounds. He had another place south of this one where he began is work about 1920. He moved everything from there to this location in 1936 when they were going to build near him. He wouldn't let anyone see how he even moved the large pieces. Other pieces were mined at this location. What you see here are rocking chairs that weigh 1000 pounds! He had two gates weighing 3 tons and 9 tons, but could be moved with a finger. Reminds me of Flintstone! Who knows, maybe that creator had been here!
