Erm, in box day?

Boxing Day here in the UK today.

Apparently 'Boxing Day' is traditionally the day that tradesmen and servants were given gifts from their superiors as a reward for their work during the year. The servants were allowed the 26th off as a gesture of good will as they would have had to serve their masters on Christmas Day itself. They would be given 'Christmas boxes' of either money, gifts or leftover food to take back to their own families.
