The first record i bought was a Kate Bush vinyl in 1980, that is when i started my hobby of being a serious record collector. After the many thousands of 45's and LP's i'd purchased - along came the CD and the task of replacing the collection all over again!
In 1987 my first CD was 'Now 10'. The shiny metallic disc was a joy to behold and it absolutely amazed me that crystal clear sound was coming from it after years of crackling, popping vinyl.
Of course, MP3's have made life much easier since then, but i'll always have a fondness for the humble CD and something physical that i can look at and admire. It's always a talking point for any visitors to the house and i still get a kick out of that.
So this was the ONLY option i had for today's Planned-4-January word: Collection.
Good on you, Darren, I too am still stuck on CDs and like to have one in my hand, put it in the CD player in the car, kitchen or lounge and actually know what I am listening to - I don't have as many as you though!
