A chilly night's sleep. by darrenboyj

A chilly night's sleep.

For today's word: Doors.

Taken in Alta, Norway, the Ice Hotel Sorrisniva. These rooms, made entirely of snow and ice are available for a night's stay from November to March. The 'doors' are number with curtains for privacy and the beds are covered with fur skin for comfort and warmth. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to stay overnight, although we would have done so without any doubt at all - just for the experience!
this is awesome. I would imagine a snow bed is actually quite comfy too...

@domtcb i was looking forward to sleeping there, but alas there wasn't enough interest :(
January 10th, 2013
@amandalomonaco it's kept at a constant temperature inside so i guess it wouldn't be too uncomfortable once you'd gotten warm in the sleeping bag!

@annbo it was an amazing sight and yes, it's pretty cool (and recommended!)
January 10th, 2013
@willowdragon LOL! the toilets are located in a main building next to the hotel itself - probably not nice to have to walk outside in the middle of the night just to go!!

@saphyress i couldn't recommend it highly enough so if you get a chance to do it then don't hesitate!
January 10th, 2013
@quietpurplehaze it's around £100 a night for the room if i remember rightly, although the experience alone would be worth every penny in my opinion - gonna go back and stay overnight as soon as time and money allow!

it's a shame we didn't get to stay here - was looking forward to it too.
January 10th, 2013
