I have a long history of taking photos of my children when they depart, mostly in their early school days, but I often do one at the airport, so I did one today as I said goodbye to my oldest daughter, flying initially to Jackson, MS; then a shuttle to Vicksburg, MS, which is her headquarters for Americorps. By the 7th, she should be on her way with her team to the Conecuh National Forest in Alabama for the next two months.
After I dropped her off, I went to PPR where I get my photographs printed to pick up my first selection for a photo review next week. PPR had a new location, which is rather cool. Alas, my print had an error on it (cropped off a foot of a row of policemen I captured in Peru at the Museo Pisco), so I had to reorder it.
I spent some time earlier in the day watching a Photoshop tutorial, and I successfully played with an image, but darned if I can't figure out how to "disengage" a tool I'm using. I feel like an idiot, but I was able to create a few layers, label them, and work with them a bit. I saved the file too, but I'm not posting anything because you wouldn't see what I did really. This one is edited in LR, and boy do I love how I can edit a photo in this version, selecting the subject with ease, making adjustments as I go. I even used the erase too (love, love, love) to get rid of a panel on the foreground.
Bye for now little bird. Go do some good in the world like you always do.
@cdonohoue Thanks Cathy. I've been working with LR5 for so long it's like being in a candy store with LR. In PS, it's like I run into brick walls everywhere!
Lovely b&w of your daughter Daryl. The difference between LR5 and the latest edition of LR Classic is night and day. It has become such a marvellous program it is really all you need. The masking tools alone are worth the subscription price. Do persevere with Photoshop though. The ability to work with layers and blend modes opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Good luck in your journey.
