nautilus

This is essentially a cheap ceramic from a home store. In taking its picture I have tried to convey a sense of monumentality and a feeling of otherness. I imagine something like it but gigantic in size could be in orbit around a distant alien world.
I like the color and lighting of your object, plus it looks expensive with the black background. A good example how cheap can look more expensive than it is.

I would have thought it was a real shell if you hadn't said. Nice against the black, and a great pov to make it look bigger and more intimidating.

Well done! What was your light source?

@dmcoile Thanks for your input Dianna. Lighting was a single softbox flash unit off camera above and to the side of the shell. A certain amount of Photoshopping was used to enhance contrast, colour and cropping.

The lighting's wonderful. I feel as if there is a world to explore *within* the shell too, if you don't mind being swallowed by it - a sort of mollusc version of Jonah's whale.
