The Grey Mare (in Welsh: Mari Lwyd)

One of Britain's stranger folk rituals involves taking the skull of a horse, sticking it on a pole (hobby horse), decorating the whole kaboosh with ribbons then parading it round to bring good luck. 'Cwmni Gwerin Pont y Pwl' are a Welsh folk dance team that keep this tradition alive.
Good luck traditions are fun and important to maintain.
