Today the Tall Ships from many parts of the world sailed into Boston Harbor, which I'd been looking forward to for a long time. I wanted to be down on the waterfront watching the Parade of Sail, but the weather didn't cooperate with my plans. It had rained hard the evening before and in the night, and the morning was gray and foggy. I couldn't get myself up early to go down and secure a place where I could take photos. Instead, we watched the television broadcast. The parade had to be postponed over an hour until the fog cleared up, and then the magnificent ships came in (over 50 of them).
By afternoon the weather was better, and I took the Orange Line downtown, passing these still-wet roses in a front garden on Green St. on the way. There were still thousands of people along the waterfront when I got there and a festive atmosphere. Boston loves the Tall Ships. The Parade of Sail was over, but I was able to see a few ships in their berths. They'll be there until Thursday morning, when they leave for Halifax, Nova Scotia, so I will try to get down there on a week day to see more of them.
