Some of the staff where I work are having their photos taken by another staff member. The photos aren't turning out well. This got me thinking about this video from a couple of years ago. Hope it helps anyone wanting to do portraits. here is the link: It's All about the Jaw
Wooooooah!! I love this guy! He made it seem so simple! What an amazing difference before and after! I am taking pics at my sister-in-law's wedding next week (very informally) and this will help TREMENDOUSLY!! Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much for posting this. A friend has asked me to take some headshots of her staff and I am quite nervous about it, this will really help me improve the shots I take. What a great tip and so well explained.
he's actually brought out 2 more videos - available on fstoppers if anyone wants to check it out. He goes on from here to explain that while the forehead to the camera gets you the look you want, the hardest part of a headshot is connecting with your client. You need to do this to get some sort of the more usable images and he shows his way of doing it in the art of the headshot. I believe the second video he has is specifically about lighting the face.
