I've wondered this, too. The highest number of photos uploaded for any one day in April so far is 4000, but some people will be posting multiple shots.
Ross has said there are some 40,000 accounts on the site, and that around 10,000 new ones signed up on or around the 1st Jan this year. However yes as Sarah there says, there's only around 4,000 images per day going up right now. Back at the start of 2011 there were 8,600 images uploaded per day.
So, yeah, around 4,000 active people posting photos, and a lot of other old/dead accounts and/or people just signing up to follow friends.
@eyebrows Depends how many Ace members there are - there could be 2000 people, with 1000 people posting one pic a day, and 1000 posting 3 pics a day! :O)
@sarahhorsfall I have some stats on that too, as it goes! As part of a couple of tools I've written, I've scanned 6,000 accounts over several months, 600 of which are ace. So we only run at, approx, 10% ace membership :)
