I was going throught my favorites today and I noticed that I follow two people at the moment who really inspire me. To pick just a couple of names would be a hard task since this great community is overloaded with many brilliant photographers, but I am curious... who inspires you the most?
The ones that inspires me the most (at this moment of my project) are:
I only follow people who inspire me either with their photographs, their stories, their techniques, style, locations, quirkiness, and so many other reasons. If I don't connect on some level I quit following the person. So, Yes, I've got lots of inspiration. :-)
I am inspired by many people on here (including you, Lara :).
I really love the work by Sergey Parohodov (@parohodov) right now. So amazing and talented...
Can't just list one. So here are four in alphabetical order @dejongdd Deb - Wonderful HDR landscapes
@ jesase - Jesa started off strong but then slowed down after her baby was born. I still love her abstract work. @laurentye Lauren - Great landscapes and creative shots @exposure4u Wendy - Wonderful HDR landscapes
@pocketmouse OMG! I am so happy to inspire you :) Did you know that you are the 2nd person I ever followed (only to my friend who joined 365 right after me)....and you were the only person who commented on my photo from Christmas Day 2010. That just stuck with me. You have inspired me in many ways as well - I fell in love with the coloration of your photos the first time I looked through them. This was my first fav from your album, and I remember hoping to be able to find a scene like this in dry/flat texas.
This was about as close as I ever got:
Thank you for visiting my albums so regularly and always letting me know what you like about a photo - not just "awesome!!" :) you're so sweet!
I am so honoured that you like my work, Lara, but I find it awkward at the same time as I feel I have so much to learn in terms of creativity and technique. I am most definitely inspired by Amy's @aspada work, and yours too! (Especially your most recent stuff.)
I've over 1400 favs so clearly I am inspired daily by a lot of people here and for different reasons. Street photography is one of my passions and people like Mimo @mimosa, @flydragon and Richard Tyson @rich57 are huge influences. For landscapes I love the work of Jerry @orangecrush and Jenn @aikiuser. The creative genius who has helped me get out of ruts and broadened my creativity is Jani @janmaki. He thinks out of the box and isn't afraid to try new things.
Thank you for your kind words, and I am delighted that Roop features in two of your favourites - he sends you a big slobbery kiss all over your face! :)
@mwarren365 Oh wow Mike! What a wonderful compliment and thank you soooo much! I feel so honored and sure appreciate your kind words!!! You just made my day! @dune1953 Thank you so much Doug!! I feel so honored and appreciate your kind words!!!! What a compliment! :-)
@carrapeta00 You've made my day Lara! So pleased that I can be an inspiration to you. That's the best compliment that one photographer can give to another and I appreciate it a lot! You have a great eye and I love viewing your work too.
@deens Thanks for drawing my attention to this thread and for your kind words. Love your photography because it is always clear and limpid light and color.
In addition I truly enjoy seeing the work of Jenn (AikiUser) (@aikiuser) for her fine art landscapes, Heather (pixelchix) (@pixelchix) for her incredible sense of textures and editing abilities, mimo (@mimosa) because she never disappoints with her fabulous compositions, Pepita Liang (@pepitaliang) for her incredible colors and Bonnie Lusted (@kloud) for her brilliant simplicity...
Everyone on here is an inspiration! That globally - so many people have a common interest and are prepared to post their work on a communal website is brilliant. There are some truly amazing photographers out there!
@aspada pretty much said everyone I had in mind (herself included), but I love the daily quirky cool creativity of @houdiniem ... woooOOOooooOOOOooo !! :-)
For me the persons that inspire me in 365project is @debsphotos because she was able to put into words what the 365project is all about, @vernabeth because she takes amazing nature shots and joseph leotta for taking breathtaking pictures, but each day as I browse through the pictures I see a lot of people who put up really inspiring and amazing photos so at the end of the day, there are a lot to pick from because each one has a unique talent in showing beautiful photos in different perspective.
@dune1953 I'm speechless! Thank you so much for the incredible compliment. I've taken some criticism for my HDR work so it means a lot to know that someone is inspired by it.
@dejongdd - You're welcome. HDR is a funny thing. Everyone has their own ideas of what is good HDR processing. I, for one, use it to pull detail out of shadows and highlights with minimum HDR artifacts. I want a realistic scene. On the other extreme, many people tend to completely over-do HDR so that it is an unreal scene. It is those that tend to get the fav's. Your HDR picts are somewhere in the middle, sometimes over-done HDR, sometimes not. Overdone HDR with some people are more of an artistic statement, with folks like Wendy. It all depends on your aim.
A landscape photographer at a workshop I attended said that you either take a picture or make a picture. His idea of taking a picture includes the use of filters (polarizing, graduated neutral density, etc.) on the front end to increase the apparent dynamic range of a scene. The same thing can be done with multiple exposures and HDR processing. So, I think that with the right amount of HDR you can basically "take" a picture, whereas with over-done HDR, you "make" a picture. Each is a completely valid artistic statement. Who know, maybe I'm wrong.
Thank you, Lara, for starting this thread. I've found more awesome people to follow for inspiration.
Michael Elliott, @michaelelliott, has inspired with his spectacular perspectives, especially as he captures the sights of New York City.
And this is genius! Click on it to see it on his page for details.
Anne, @sunnygreenwood, inspires me with her phenomenal closeups of flowers and plants. But she's no one-trick pony. Her landscape and wildlife shots are also wonderful, as are her photos of every day things.
I'm inspired by anyone who makes the effort to capture their unique view on the world and put it out there every single day, it's not an easy thing to do!
Perhaps because I haven't been here very long I found it not so hard to pick three standout photographers from among my favs so far. Don't ask again in 300 days' time though!
Actually I'd just like to add natalie @natpsc to my little list, whose work I just stumbled upon, most especially because she only has four followers (including me), which I find simply astounding. A fabulous eye for composition and detail.
Wow, I can't believe that there are still some amazing photographers I have not yet discovered on here! I have so many I'm inspired by, but now I have a few to add to my list.
From Nadine:
If I could take a shot half as good as this one, I would have died and gone to photo heaven.
fantastic the work from flydragon... just started to follow him.
Yes, Wendy has some amazing shots.
I really love the work by Sergey Parohodov (@parohodov) right now. So amazing and talented...

There are so many awesome photographers on 365!
