Obviously, we all love photography, but what are your other hobbies or interests?
Before I started my 365 journey, I baked a lot! My friends can't wait for my year to be over--they want cookies!
Share photos of your other hobbies or interests! :-)
haha well I suppose reading and listening to music, oh and I used to love bird-watching before the kids arrived. I also like open-top bus tours of cities and visiting interesting, relatively inexpensive restaurants. my those cookies look good!
My two main hobbies aside from photography would be
1)obsessing over crusty old things and
2) travel
This pic taken in the ghost town of Bodie, California last year captures both of those!
@rich57 You guessed correctly! Most people who 'game' either play on consoles like Xbox, Wii, or, if they're smart, PlayStation ;) or play on PCs/Macs. Some do all of the above! Myself, I'm a PlayStation girl.
@beautifulthing aww, you've capture my heart :) old sewing machine & sackboy ! ♥
I LOVE old machines and I've made a sewn version of sackpeople (tho I don't think i have any on here)
@beautifulthing ok, I'm not really a gamer but we have Wii and PS2 and mac and iphone and DSi. i tend to watch the boy playing Mario, Sonic, Zelda et al whilst lazing on the sofa. The boy loving PS2 right now...
@lolanae@rich57@chriswang Thanks for the quick responses! These are sugar cookies I made for @fotomama & her kids--really Miss B, since I am the President of the Miss B fan club. It's like being a Supreme Court Justice--it's for life! No body think about taking my job! One of my goals for the year is to make a baking book with photos and recipes of my favorite sweet treats.
@rich57 It's a lot of fun. I grew up singing, and being on stage doesn't faze me in the least. But I gave up singing seriously when I went to college and just really got back into it last year. Fifteen years was far too long of a break!
@rich57 We mix it up, but we do quite a bit of Iron Maiden and Ozzy/Black Sabbath. We've done some Guns 'N' Roses, Metallica, AC/DC, Judas Priest, and some others as well.
here's my other big love. We spend a lot of time at car shows, on tours down windy, country roads and at pubs with other car lovers...Bettye White is waiting her turn for full TLC and restoration, she's stuffed in the garage behind a TR6.
is masturbating a hobby or a sport? i never remember.
in all seriousness, traveling, reading, checking out museums, watching people, listening to people and just observing in general are big time loves of mine. eating great food. doing stuff on my own (serious loner). brunch with friends (when i'm not being a serious loner). having awesome convos with interesting strangers. walking. getting lost in a new city. watching movies. and listening to good tunes whilst creating editing magic (i hope, at least) on photoshop or the like.
and astronomy. wish i had been good enough in math to become an astronomer. i can skygaze forever...
as of late, checking out the amazing stuff this site has to offer in regards to all of the talent here has become a huge hobby of mine.
@grecican realxing? I have been worried sick about this pair, they are suppose to migrate but because of the warm temps seemed to be sticking around, the last few days the weather has turn bitter cold...I hope they are safe. Thanks!
hmmmm...i love reading. i read about 20-30 book a year, sometimes more. my favorites (because someone will ask) are Fahrenheit 451, Atlas Shrugged, and Brave New World. I also love almost everything by Stephen King. I love music - listening to it and making it. I love philosophical discussions to the point that they're a hobby. I enjoy documentary films, especially historical ones and pretty much everything National Geographic has ever made. and Brian Cox. Can Brian Cox be a hobby? I hope so.
My first love was/is classic horror and science fiction movies. I've been collection toys based on those movie characters for years. I have a spare bedroom which has become my monster toy shrine. There you'll find everything from noseferatu, Frankenstein's monster, King Kong, Godzilla, right up to Freddy, Jason and the Terminator. I'm sure I'll get around to shooting some of them on days when I can't think of anything else to photograph.
I enjoy sports. At the moment, mainly table tennis, and a little bit of squash. I used to be very serious about sailing (I did a lot of dinghy racing, and was in the National Youth Squad) but I haven't done any for a little while now. I also enjoy watching sports - especially Formula 1, and cricket - on TV, and following Norwich City, my local football team.
I also like food. I enjoy cooking, and I also enjoy eating out, and discovering new restaurants, cafés and bistros - as well as going back to the old favourites, of course.
I like comedy, as well. I really enjoy going to see comedians do live stand-up gigs, and I pledged to do that more as part of my New Year's Resolutions for 2012. I also spend quite a bit of time writing very bad jokes on Twitter.
And I like grammar. And therefore still refuse to believe that "game" is a verb. Sorry!
I love to read.. I read about 1 or 2 novels a week. Sometimes more. I love real books but Mum decided me moving 9 boxes of books (excluding textbooks) every time I move flat (which is at least once a year) was getting excessive so bought me a kindle.
Happily my kindle fits perfectly with some of my other hobbies..
Travel, skiing, tramping (hiking as the rest of the world calls it), sailing, camping, swimming and climbing.
I also have done ballet for years and play the flute but these haven't started up again for the year.
My dog and I are a pet therapy team. In addition, love music and rarely leave the house without my ipod; love to read; play piano and flute; play Mah Jongg with friends; art galleries and museums are a frequent weekend activity. Like to travel and when the weather permits I can be found at a pool or beach.
I am a total nerd and I love to play video games. I play mostly computer games, with Skyrim being my most recent obsession. I was a World of Warcraft nerd for years. :D
I also love to cook! I am always looking for new and interesting ideas and love creating a meal from scratch. I get lazy some nights and end up eating cereal, haha!, but most nights I prefer to either improve upon a previous meal I have made or to try something new.
Fun topic, LH! I'm a big time foodie (and I love photos of food!). I write about it in a weekly recipe column and bi-monthly restaurant review, but I also just plain love to cook. Yet, I don't have alot of food photos in my album. Here's a rare one:
I'm also an avid reader (and I happen to write about books too). Here's one I posted for the vintage theme last year. I'm currently re-reading "The Gargoyle." by Andrew Davidson, just to see if I love it as much the second time around. I do.
Too many hobbies! I watch anime, read manga, make little things with polymer clay, play with my BJDs, make jewelry and cellphone straps with beads, crystals and charms.
That's a bracelet I made for a friend. And here's a tiny polymer clay cat (less than an inch) in a cardboard box.
And one of my BJDs. (My apologies to those who find dolls creepy.)
When not doing photography (which according to my husband is never!) I train my big baby Dexter in Schutzhund which is a 3 part dog sport made up of tracking, obedience & protection work! Protection work is his favourite as he gets to run like maniac & grab a dude by a padded sleeve:
It's not as bad as it sounds as the dogs are under control & wouldn't even think of biting anything else but the sleeve but they do enjoy it :)
Besides looking after 3 of my own teenagers and my 2 live-in nephews,
Riding:
Pretty much anything to do with my many pets...here's Fleur
and the newest member of our family, Jemma
another hobby of mine that I've been involved with for quite some time now, radio controlled vehicles. Now if I can just blend the two together . . . . . lol !
I'm passionate about crafting, especially greetings cards, photobooks etc
Another hobby is my choir - we're called Popchoir, and its just the best fun ...here is us rehearsing before a performance (all the chairs were full when we started singing!)
Love this positive and fun discussion from Bokehiro x
I love nature, birds, lighthouses, babies (being a midwife), my kids and my pets (not in that order)
Jennifer x
@lorihiro - Great discussion. Fascinating seeing the hobbies and interests of others. Me, I like traveling (been to 5 of the 7 continents), road trips, astronomy, eclipse-chasing, movies (all kinds), woodworking, writing (a few short stories published and a novel in the works), playing Disc Golf, and playing the didgeridoo (though I'm not good at it yet as 'circular breathing' is not easy to master).
This not only shows my love of collecting depression glass but my love of history. I enjoy reading about history and watching shows about history. The pattern of depression glass I collect is New Madrid.
Such a neat collection of hobbies! I like to write, bake, and read manga. I also cross-stitch,
And spend time with my real horse, and my model ones. :)
Hmmm well I don't have a lot to choose from what I've posted, I love music/concerts but don't have any pics up yet lol...a major hobby of mine is nail polish tho, that has made it on here ;-P
Swimming, skiing, baking & all things creative, though writing is the only one I already have a photo of... (now fingers crossed this html thing works :) )
@andycoleborn Just trying to give people a chance to share photos. I don't benefit from it, but thanks for asking! No one has to answer if they don't want to.
Have a nice day!
I also game. I'm not the bestest player of all times, but it's fun!
As for hobbies. I'm a huge baseball fan.
and I love to cook but more importantly eat!
